Dialectical Group Therapy

involves a group setting where participants work together on learning and practicing DBT skills. It’s a structured, skill-building program that typically focuses on:

  1. Mindfulness – Developing the ability to be present and aware of thoughts, feelings, and actions without judgment.
  2. Distress Tolerance – Coping skills for handling emotional crises without making things worse.
  3. Emotion Regulation – Learning to understand and manage intense emotions, especially when they feel overwhelming.
  4. Interpersonal Effectiveness – Improving communication skills and learning how to set boundaries and assert needs in relationships.

In a group setting, participants can share their experiences, practice new skills, and receive feedback in a supportive environment. The group leader often guides discussions, teaches the skills, and facilitates exercises to help participants apply them in real-life situations.

I will run these groups when I have six or more participants interested in exploring group work. This therapy is delivered online, so you can participate from the comfort of your own home.

DBT groups are often used alongside individual therapy, where participants get one-on-one support tailored to their specific challenges. The group setting, though, helps to normalize struggles and provides a sense of community and accountability.

In wellness counseling, the focus is not just on treating problems, but also on prevention and lifestyle enhancement. I work with clients on building healthy habits, coping with life transitions, improving self-esteem, or addressing imbalances in various areas of life.
